I am typical

Found this tidbit via Eve. Apparently Kirstie Alley went from a being size 14/16 in Jan to a size 6/8 this month. In the same time frame I went from a tight 16 to a barely fitting 12. After I let loose a plethora of #$#)(*#'s on Eve's site (forgive me girlie ;) ) I went back to Kirsties' "blog" to check on something.

Here's what I found:

...body fat down 17%*...26¼ inches*...from 14-16 to 6-8*.

And wayyyyy at the bottom this:

*Results not typical.

Well my friends, I guess that makes me typical.

Every Friday morning I update my little NutriSystem profile. This is chart of how I've been faring for the last 16 weeks:

This morning I realized there are more red minuses than black plusses. I also realized more weeks than not, I had consistency.

In the last few weeks I've come to terms with this. Perhaps last weeks time off helped cement that I'm really okay with losing weight slow. I don't even care about it like I did earlier. I had no desire to beat the scale into submission this morning.

I haven't been averaging 1lb like most or 2lbs like the lucky. So a few weeks ago, when I finally accepted that I lose a ½lb, my mindset changed. Instead of trying for and being frustrated by not being able to lose 5lbs in 5 weeks, I've scaled back all my goals & expectations to aim for 3lbs in 6 weeks.

Today I'm down ½lb and that's just the way it goes.

Oh this weight will come off. I know it will. Put it like this, I'm going to make my body and lifestyle a really uncomfortable place for excess body fat to reside.

Oh and one more funny from Kirstie's "blog", the entry title says Half Way There, so does that make her goal a size 3/4? Oh, right. I forget. Hollywood. eyeroll

Slow and steady wins the race! Good job!

I'm thinking half-way there means she wants to lose another 4 sizes. obviously, she's not going to be happy until she's shopping for her clothes at GapK1ds and L1m1ted too.

slow and steady is the best way - it's more permanent! weight that is lost fast is gained back more quickly. so Kirstie can just go be annoying somewhere else. I'm almost hoping someone holds her down and stuffs a bunch of Lil Debbies down her. Does that make me a bad person?

You know - I'd sure love to see her clothes in person, i could have SWORN she was bigger than a size 14/16 (let alone a size 6/8????)

Does TV really make you look that much fatter? :/

I'd bet if you were: a)given access to top trainers, nutritionists, behaviorists, stylist, etc., b) had no other job, c) were followed around by a camera crew, and d)you had a big ol' cash incentive waiting for you at the end, you could get those results too.

I agree with the others though, that weight's going to be a *real* bitch for her to keep off.

Ok, I don't mean to be b$%#^y, but have you picked up any tabloids lately? I have one laying around here with a pic of Kirstie with her kids at Disneyland- she is NO size 6/8!!! In fact, when I saw the pic I wondered if she was still doing the whole Jenny thing! Anyway, the girls on any WW or JC commecials are always "Not Typical Results" girls- it kills me! Just my 2 cents.

Jen

PS- I don't know what I need to lose more- my weight, or my tabloid addiction!?!?!?!? ::p:

I gotta add my disbelief that she is a size 6, and even that she was a 14/16 to begin with (she looked much bigger). I read that article from your link andKirstie even admits that the size 6 is not "real" to her because it's only a certain designer who she thinks makes the sizes smaller to make women feel better.

I do applaud her weight loss, though, because it is hard, no matter how much you lose or what size you wear.

Renee, you are anything but typical!! You are phenomenal, girl! Don't let some kooky Hollywood chick define success for you. You know better.

Renee, you are such an inspiration to me, you are so FABULOUS!!!

There is no way on God's Green Earth that Kirstie is now a size 6. Please, back when she first started this thing, there was no way she was a 14!!! I have seen her in person. She is a big woman. And I don't just mean fat, I mean big allover - she is tall and curvy and all that jazz. I laughed out loud when said her highest weight was like 180 - right.

I'm not trying to be mean to her or anything, but it's like, come on and be honest. The whole world can tell the difference.

I just wonder what she's going to do with her show once she becomes the size 3-4 - "Formerly Fat Actress"?

I have to add my 2 cents--there is no WAY Kirstie was less than 250 to start with, and she was NO 14/16!! Please do not use her as any sort of example or person to envy. Stick with real people.

And as long as I am here, at the end of my weight-loss year, till I hit my goal, I lost 1/2 lb a month. It's discouraging but you just have to keep plugging along--it WILL all come off! And find other ways to measure your progress besides the scale--your photos and a measuring tape and your clothes, for example!

not to mention just LOOK at your before/after photos

kirstie alley? fattest size 14/16? NO WAY, maybe if you add size 14 and size 16 together for a total of Size 30. so being a current 6/8 (6+8) would make her a Size 14, which might be right.

i attend a weight loss support group. during a recent program on accountability, we spent time comparing the people magazine pictures of her body to the bodies of group members weighing different sizes and of different weights. the people who came closest to looking like kirstie alley were all OVER 250 lbs. and at least a size 24.

our conclusion: you have to honest to be accountable.
