Many many many moons ago, I teased about adding a new weekly feature, but due to the fact that @ the time, my car wasn't legally allowed on the streets of Atlanta *ahem* I couldn't get it started. Then she became legal, but other pressing issues distracted me. Now I'm left scratching my head wondering, "Where'd Summer go?"
What I'd planned to kick off while Featured Food Fridays was on Summer hiatus, was a photoblog of my fair city.
I was inspired to do this from a couple of sources. One came from seeing the visual maps of people's homes or things in their home. I'd do that too, but simply put, my apt sux. Really. Not the apt itself, it's pretty sweet, I just have no furniture and lots of clutter.
Somewhere around the time that dude had strapped himself onto a crane in Midtown for what ended up being 57 hours, I was driving home and went past a Krispy Kreme, no I didn't go in :
:. I noticed the signage looked really cool. It's a brand new store, but they kept the old sign which had a weathered look. I glanced around and noticed all the new bldgs going up and how pretty my part of town looked. Semi historic even.
Continuing home, I went past a historical site that people, from all around the world, come by the busloads to see and I can literally walk to but never have. I glanced to my right and caught a breathtaking skyline view of downtown.
Granted my city gets it fair share of kooky stories, the Runaway Bride, the aforementioned Crane Dude, Six Flags Georgia under water [edited to add 2 more gems my mom reminded me of: Death by antifreeze poisoning & former beauty queen murders boyfriend, turn off Court TV Mom!] as well as the truly tragic stories, Buckhead shooting, Atlanta court shooting, Centennial park bombing,
but believe me, it's really a great city. Hot as Hedes, but great. So this is my way of showing off the nice Atlanta using the photojournals-of-ones-home format.
This desire really started last January, where I made a feeble attempt @ starting a photojournal and I gave up when it didn't pan out like I wanted it too. (see what I mean) Now that it's no longer steamy out, or icy for that matter, I have no more excuses.
Besides, it'll help me cut down on expenses & save gas by no longer going to the movies on Saturday (which I haven't been in months anyway), I can get some fresh air and off the computer for a few hours but most importantly, I can score some exercise. It'll force me to become the walker I used to be and miss so very much.
I'm not quite sure how it'll play out. Ideally I wanted to open it up to viewer requests but I'm not sure if people care too see any Atlanta buildings that much. So I'll start out taking local shots of what's close to me and if there's something you've always wanted to see, I'll put it on my list of shots to take. All I ask it that it be w/in a reasonable drive, a gals trying to save on almost $2.75 a gallon gas dontcha know, and it must be free. So while you may want to see the inside of a certain museum howz about I get you snazzy shots of the exterior. ![]()
Who knows how it may catch on. Maybe I've always wanted to see your city and you always wanted to take pictures of it so we can swap shots and do virtual tours. For now I'll leave it as me walking around my neighborhood. When I post pictures, I'll add some Atlanta related links for your browsing pleasure and if something tickles your fancy, holler @ me. Or if you do something similar on your site, link a sista up.

I used to live in Atlanta - great city! I lived across from Piedmont Park - this was my favourite thing about the city. Midtown is great. I miss it.
I so want to see what's around you! I've only been to Atlanta for one night driving through to Florida. My dad loved to take one-day detours on our way to Florida from Chicago. Fun! Anyway, I thought Atlanta was absolutely lovely, and it was the first place I ever tried grits, which I now love...tangent...anyway, yes!
good idea! i want to see a photo of your favourite place in the city from various different angles ![]()
Wowzers! Interest...okay okay okay...if the weather holds up this weekend I'll be out & about getting papparazi on my city.
Quet, you gave me some great ideas for things to look for.
Jennifer, Piedmont park is yet another thing I am way close to and it's near my grocery store so I see it every week, but don't visit.

Renee!!!!
Show Centennial Park. I know summer is over so babies won't be playing in the fountains (will they?) but I always love those shots.
How about Piedmont Park? The Silver Comet Trail? Ahh I'd ask you to take a picture of my crush, but I think that's called stalking
Peachtree street on Saturday night? No? Oh alright then.
The Underground is a cliche, but some ppl might like it, I think.
Kiss ATL for me! I dunno how you would do that, but could you try?
