Commercial Rants III

Oh Madison Avenue...how I fantasize about the day I can wail on you w/my fists of fury.

Victim #1 – Citibank...your latest commercials lashing out @ the amount of time people have to wait on hold for a live customers service rep is spot on. You got it so right w/the guy on the cell phone. I was lmao @ his "Big Boy" password, wrong on so many levels and his exasperated "I dunno" never fails to tickle me...but...and you know there is a but coming...

Why in the HELL-YELL did you turn around overdo it w/the dude letting his house burn down to stay on hold?

I can buy someone staying forever and a day on their celly, but fire? You took it too damn far.

Victim #2 Zaxbys - Look. I never heard of you people but what I do hear drives me up a wall. The constant lip smacking and chewing of people standing around enjoying your fare. Listening to women sound down right orgasmic eating chicken is gross. Quit it. Now. :shudder:

To balance out my negative energy, here are two commercials I like

Kudo #1 An older commercial for Verizon wireless...Dad is assigning phones to his brood and telling them this new 4 phone plan will work as he can find them where they hang out. Wifey @ the grocery store. Daughter @ the mall. Then he turns to his punk/goth son and says "Wherever the hell you hang out". They flash to him in the club. Up to this point, nothing is really funny. But it's when the dude in the network, who has on the construction hat, starts getting DOWN to the music is when I proceed to fall on the floor laughing. He is so into the music. By the time he gets the WTF? look from everyone else and abruptly stops, tears stream down my face.

For that commercial, I drop whatever I'm doing just to see him.

Kudo #2 Kaiser Permanente, what is up w/them first the crazy hip running song now this? Anyhoo...it's a dude who's apparently a baby boomer, you can tell by the hippie music the play in the background (The times they are a changin') and he's starting to eat healthier.

You see him hesitating a bit before grudgingly choosing the salad (maybe it was fruit, I can't really see) for lunch. He's taking the stairs and getting dreadfully winded. He picks up a weird piece of veggie @ the grocery store. He's doing pull ups w/his gut hanging out and then he's trying on new running sneakers. It all ends w/him taking a leisurely jog. I don't know why but seeing him warms my heart and I find myself rooting for him. Well done.

To be continued...

I am glad I got rid of basic cable TV out of choice. My husband grew up without it.
I am so spoiled now with Netflix.
I get more done now  oh really

Heh, I haven't had cable, basic or otherwise, in 8 or so years, plus w/the rabbit ears my tv is fuzzy. It's a good day if I can both see and hear @ least 2-3 channels out of the 11...

I think my current favorite is for a credit card maybe? It has this little girl talking about shopping, Ellen Degeneres is doing the voice-over, then you see the girl all grown up, and she has a stroller with twins in it, and this woman says "they're adorable!" and the shopper woman says "Thanks! I have a pair in lime green too" and shows off her shoes. I just love that one! hee!

hee..that one gets me too..that she so earnestly thinks woman means the shoes is priceless.
