Late Bloomer

Now that my mom's gone, you'll be seeing more of me around these parts ;) Oh and she just called to tell me, when she pulls up, Maggie usually scampers across the yard to greet her, well no scampering yesterday. But when she got out the car, who was lazily lounging in the driveway behind her? Yup, you guessed it. I swear that cat wants me to go up there and get her.

While mom was here hogging my DSL, I ended up watching Netflix DVDs. In my queue was Season 1 of Felicity. Ok, so I've already proven how late I am when it came to flickr, and just got into frappr maps, please don't ask me about myspace, I can only maintain so much, but I'm EXTREMELY late when it comes to TV.

Felicity was a show I watched on and off, mostly during Season 3. I didn't really know the history of the relationships. By the Season 4 series finale, something else was on that night, I even remember flipping back and forth catching bits of the ending. Maybe Alias started by then, can't remember. Anyhoo, it's really cool to see it from start to finish.

It brings back so many of my own college freshman memories, which I have many of being that I was a freshman @ 5 diff't schools eyeroll, seeing her and Noel (I watched it so infrequently I thought his name was Noah) and Ben!!! Gahhh that Ben drives me nuts!!! I just melt when he smiles that crooked smile. How could he not fall for Felicity from day 1?!?!?

I think she is so drop dead gorgeous. But no, he has to be the bad boy and I guess deep down he knows she's too good for him. I've had my share of guys like that *ahem*

The first episode got me hooked and I was tickled to find Janeane Garofalo was her friend Sally. Plus all these cameos, Peter Parker and Mary Janes teacher from Spiderman. You know, the guy who took them to the museum and hissed @ them to stop clowning around ='s Elaina's boyfriend.

And if you saw Hustle and Flow, Terrence Howards main ho' Shug (any day now my movie review blog will jump off), was an RA and in Felicity's art dept...though later I already knew Felicity to be an art student, @ this stage she is just rediscovering her talents. Hell, even the guy who says, "Previously on Lost", is here saying, "Previously on Felicity." Loves it.

The downside of watching it back to back w/4 shows on one DVD was Kerri Overload. I'd try to break it up w/a movie or two. @ one point my mom was like, what the hell is this show? No shooting, killing fighting? They just…talk???

lol

Somewhere towards the end, maybe the 18th-20th episode, I got a bit bored, if I still had the DVD I'd check to see who wrote/directed it. And one episode I closed my eyes and didn't see what happened, that I blame on being tired.

But last night I saw the final 2 episodes, with Felicity leaving to go home…Elaina sleeping w/her PROFESSOR!!! Felicity being called a bitch by her best girlfriend and all sorts of drama went down. Now I'm in a funk b/c I won't get Season 2 until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Man, I can't believe I used to wait all summer for season premieres; this watching entire series in one shot has spoiled me. It sounds counter intuitive but I almost will TV shows to cancel, so I can rent the entire year and watch it @ my leisure.

Same thing happened to me w/Lost. Couldn't really see ABC clearly, heard all the hype and was like whatever. Last fall, on a fluke, I ended up renting Season 1. I can't even tell you the precise moment I got hooked b/c it happened so fast, but I do remember staying up till almost 3 AM to watch the season finale b/c there was no way in hell I was going to bed and saving it for the next day. I bawled like a baby when Walt's dog swam out and he told him to go back (getting shivers just remembering it) and sitting str8 up in bed, stunned, STUNNED I say @ the final 5 minutes. Damn you J.J. Abrams. Damn you infinity.
