Sweating it Off

To go along w/my grub, now that I'm ensconced in suburbia and will be faithfully attending the Big Girls gym (ie the Y) here's my workout routine. One of the downsides of driving to the gym is, it doesn't open till way later than I'm used to going. That throws me off a bit. But, I found a way to make up for it. I'll still wake up @ my usual insane AM, now I'll do weights @ home in the morning. Which works out pretty good since doing PM weights in a hot apartment was not cute. @ all.

First I do 10 minutes of stretching/yoga. Then I do 15 minutes of arms/abs and the next day buns/legs. Finally I head to the gym and do 45-60 minutes of fat burning cardio. By fat burning, I mean I keep my rate in the 140-155 bpm range. I'll end it w/a mini jump rope challenge. Starting w/25 jumps and each week adding 25. By the end of 8 weeks, I hope to jump 200 jumps 7 days a week. Future boxing workout, here I come.

4 afternoons a week, I head back to the gym and do 60 mins of cardio. This time more intense, keeping my rate in the 160-170 range. B/c I get crazy bored crazy fast, I broke it into 20 min blocks, elliptical, bike and stairclimber...hee…yes I am totally showing off now that I have so many toys to play with. ;)

I do the PM thang M/T and Th/F. Wed is my night @ the movies.

I'll follow this routine, in conjunction w/my current eating plan, for the next 8 weeks. Then I'll start a new training block and eating plan based on where I'm @ and how I feel.

What about the weekends?

The only thing I'm sticking to is my insane AM wake up call, that time will be used to update my sites, do laundry while the house is quiet, grocery shopping, plan food and clothes for the weeks, pack my gym bag etc.

But, I'll do unofficial workouts, meaning, I'm aiming to be outdoors being active. This first month I'll mainly drive around & get lost as I learn the city. I've already scouted out the nearby parks and hiking trails. @ the end of the month I'd like to get a pair or rollerblades and hit the park for a few hours. Or maybe get a bike and take a ride around Stone Mountain park w/my godson. The weekend is more about having an active lifestyle vs. formal exercise routine. There'll no time watching or counting calories burned. The goal is to get as much fresh air and sunlight as possible.

To keep myself focused and b/c what I've always known in the back of my head is, theoretically *if* you burn an even 3500 calories will a 1lb loss show up in 7 days. The reality is we are more likely to burn 3500 cals over a 9 to 12 day period. When we don't lose on the magical 7th day, we get bummed, whereas if we weighed in a few days later, a loss may appear. But how to determine weighing in? Every 9 days? On the 11.5th day? Especially when all the "experts" advise weighing in the same thing the same time.

Well, I'm throwing caution to the wind. Starting Sunday and for the next 8 weeks, I'll do a daily weigh in. So long as I'm eating and getting my workout and water in, fluctuations won't frustrate me.

When I start my next training/eating block in Aug and Sept, I may modify my weigh ins to match. As far as the sidebar, and my weekly weigh in posts are concerned, for consistency, Sunday is still my *official* weigh in day.

awesome plan Renee. cheers
if you're weighing every day, I suggest you start doing a rolling average. that helps to even out the fluctuations. *hugs*
