30 Days-O-Rama

Know how I mentioned a few days back about a 30 days habit thingy I read from somewhere or another. I consider this final aspect of my yearlong goals to a quirky project as I get bored on things crazy fast and in order to stay focused for the long haul, I have to have variety.

Not all 30 day challenges are fitness related. Some are for personal growth, some are for fun. If I get nothing else out of it, I may very well end the year w/12 new habits.

Below I'll list what I want to do for myself and briefly explain what each 30 day goal symbolizes.

January 1 – January 30
30 days of 30 minutes physical activity
The yearlong goal is to do 30 minutes of physical activity every day this year. What better way to start off the New Year?

January 31 – March 1
30 days of love
W/o boring you to tears w/gory details, the majority of 2006 and most months in recent years, I haven't liked myself much. February is the month and love and very appropriate to do something nice for myself every day this month.

March 2 – March 31
30 days of water
I love drinking water. Really I do. But I lag, the goal will be to drink 1 gallon every single day.

April 1 – April 30
30 days of 5AM wake ups
This'll get me in the gym earlier and I can knock out some tasks.

May 1 – May 30
30 days of flicks
Now that it's warmer out, I plan to take a pic each day of my world.

May 31 – June 29
30 days of variety
@ the 1/2 way mark in the year, I am going to do a different 30 min workout every single day.

June 30 – July 29
30 days of prayer
I'm not a religious chick, I'm a spiritual chick, but I don't pray. I start for a day or two, feel silly, then stop.

July 30 – August 28
30 days of journaling
Technically my blog can be called my journal, but it's only one teeny aspect of my life. I like to write but lots of pain and hurt and bad stuff made me stop and I have writers block to start back. This is the month I do. In long hand.

August 29 – September 27
30 days of gratitude
I think I'm ungrateful. Or I just am too caught up in my own bullshit most time, I just take a lot of my good fortune for granted. This month I find 5 things to be grateful for.

September 28 – October 27
30 days of celebration
My birthday is this month. The older I get, the less I want to celebrate. This year, I am going to celebrate my birthday every single day.

October 28 – November 26
30 days of fruits and veggies
In the month of all that is gluttonous, I plan to cram my craw w/15 different fruits and veggie each day this month.

November 27 – December 26
30 days of 10,000 steps
End of the year, parties galore, winter hibernation. 10,000 steps ='s 5 miles. If I haven't lost any weight between the time I post this, January 17th 2007, and then, I'll be damned if this doesn't do the trick ;)

December 27 – December 31
5 days of delirium
Collapse in a quivering pile of manic OCD compulsiveness whilst pulling my hair out one strand @ a time.

Aren't I fun? *grins*

What a great idea! So much better than the regular resolutions that commit you (supposedly) for the rest of your life.

I like the 30-days-o-rama idea. Making a conscious effort to improve your life emotionally as well as physically. Emotional issues are the main things that cause us to neglect our bodies. I also have to big you up for taking real photos of your progress. I haven't even gotten enough guts to take pictures for myself. That is a good way to keep yourself on track. pumpin'

I think it so neat that you put your pictures on your website- you have more guts then I do. I wish you the best of luck on your path to your goals. *hugs*

This is fab, Renee! I especially love the '30 days of love'. Remember, our legs aren't big, they are STRONG. Our hearts and lungs power us through all those steps.

And you do have the voice of an angel  :)

I have been doing 30 day challenges for most of last year...sometimes sticking to them better than others. But, it is a nice motivation...to look at something, either changing or strengthing it, for 30 days. I got my inspiration for 30 day challenges...after watching a bunch episodes of Morgan Spurlock's tv show...30 Days. It reminded me how effective and powerful it can be to change something for 30 days.

Good luck with your challenges...they sound really interesting.

Hey, back in the 180's and the 30 day calendar is showing a lotta ticks. Keep it up, you know you can do it!

I love the 30-day idea! I might just steal it from you!

I thought the 30 Days of Love was going to be something... different. You know... blush
