It's so funny, in a kismety sort of way, that I got this book. Though, based on the way I think and view life, perhaps it wasn't so much of a coinky dink as it was just meant to be. I'll marinate on that a bit more. In the meantime, I had just downloaded some self hypnosis mp3s. Did I do it b/c I believe it works 100%? I don't quite know. I do know that 99.9% of my thoughts when it comes to weight are 100% negative. And that's just the thoughts I'm conscious of, the things I catch myself saying to and about myself. I don't even want to imagine what's being said in my subconscious.
A few weeks ago, I just got to the point where I was so mentally tired of thinking such bad things. I gave in an ordered the mp3. Then I got this book sent to me. This book isn't a diet book, it really is about changing your thoughts. It comes with CD and each chapter ends with a script of sentences to help change the way you think.
The chapters cover a variety of topics. The ones that spoke to me the most was, why do I want to lose weight, why do I overeat, avoiding sugar and slowing the pace of eating. All things I feel contribute to me being overweight and things that I haven't found a concrete way of dealing with. Perhaps this book will be key in tying it all together.
A nice touch towards the back of the book is the making a "Lifestyle Change Commitment Contract" with yourself.
Also at the back of the book, the author touches on working out w/weights and drinking water. She gives a 1lb per week goal, 52lbs in one year. Nothing new on the weight loss front. All things I already know, and I'm sure most of you know, but sometimes it's good to read it over and over again. Hey…I think I just hypnotized my ownself ![]()
The book ends with a 14 day eating plan, that's contains no white flour or sugar, and a few recipes. The meal plan is very bare bones, 3 meals and if you do snack, she suggests fruit, veggies whole grain crackers and/or low fat cheese.
I'm going to give the CD a listen after I've listened to the mp3s I purchased. Deep down I do believe self hypnosis works and so long as it's good stuff being absorbed, I'm pretty sure it won't hurt.
Oh and over @ the fatfighterblogs.com site, I'm giving away a copy of the book. Enter to win why don't ya.
